My Favorites: Summer Edition

summer style.pngToday’s topic is a little off beat to our regular posts. Some of our readers have been asking about health & beauty tips as well as vintage fashion. I am not a huge fashion follower, but I can give you a peek into my personal style and things that are staple pieces in my summer closet. I find inspiration in all things vintage so naturally my wardrobe reflects softness, classic, and whimsical clothing. From vintage china and florals to antique jewelry and clothing, I pull from the past to stay on trend for every season in the now.

summer fash inspirationSummers in Florida are brutal. High temperatures and humidity make it almost impossible to be outside for longer than a few hours. Hair control and light layers are a key for beating the heat. Here are a few of my favorite summer pieces this year.

1. It’s A 10- Miracle Leave in Product $18.52 @ Ulta

My hair is really thick and this product is a life saver. I personally use this spray all year, but it really helps me out during the summers when salty beach days can leave me hair in a horrible tangled mess. It’s A 10 is a detangler, iron & thermal protector that controls fizz, repairs damaged hair, adds natural body, prevents split ends and stops hair breakage.

2. Miller Sandal- Bleach $198 @ Tory Burch

So, these are currently on my wish-list. I usually wear cheap sandals during the summer, because with all the sand and saltwater–they are falling apart at the end of summer anyway, but these are gorgeous.

3.  Free the People -Through the Vine Maxi Dress $108 @ Nordstrom

I bought this dress for our engagement photos from Amazon (you can currently find it at Nordstrom) and it was a bit long, so it is currently being hemmed. It is soft, fits perfectly (minus the length—I’m a shorty) and is light and airy.

4. Free the People-Priscilla Mini Dress $128 @ Nordstrom

This mini dress is perfect for a beach cover up or dinner at your favorite water front restaurant. Casual and cute! This dress also comes in other colors.

5. Shade & Shore Women’s Shore Light Lift Crochet Bikini Top-Rosewood $32.00 @ Target

During the summer, we are beach bums and one of the key things I look for in a bathing suit top is coverage and fit. We lobster dive and spear fish the entire summer, so I need a top that DOESN’T MOVE. This crocheted top gives no movement with its underwire support. It also feels hip and not overly adult. I also love the vintage lace look.

6. Loeffler Randall Circle Pom-Pom Embellished Leather Trimmed Straw Tote $177 @ Net-A-Porter

This bag is a must for summer nights. Essential for keeping small items, it’s fun and flirty and perfectly embellished!

7. Timex Women’s Weekender 31 Pink/Rose Gold Watch with Nylon Slip Thru Strap $37.05 @ Walmart

I usually don’t wear watches during the summer, but with a busy schedule this year, this baby is sure to keep me on track, on time, and super cute.

8. Nailed Lacquer in “Birdie Num Num” $18 @ Smith & Cult

I am loving the color of this nail polish. My favorite colors are blue and green and this is a great mixture of teal. Plus, I finally grew out my nails–after being a nail bitter for almost 29 years, so I am dying to try this out!

9. Rahua Enchanted  Island Salt Spray $32.00 @ Sephora

We hit the beach A LOT during the summer, I have 2 months off of work (the perks of my day job) and we always plan a family vacation to the Keys. Needless to say, saltwater hair is nothing something I need a product to recreate. However, if you’re not a beach baby or live in sunny Southwest Florida, this product is great for natural summer curls and beach vibes.

10. Neutrogena Naturals Fresh Cleansing + Make Up Remover $6.89 @ Target

I use the product daily! For one, it is hypoallergenic and is made with Peruvian Tara Seed. I use it at night before bed as a make up remover, it leaves my skin soft and smooth.

11. J&D The Wet Brush-Rose Gold $9.99 @ Kohl’s

I always keep a wet brush in my hair along with a towel, beach bag, and wet bag (for bathing suits). This wet brush is one of my favorite for getting tangles out right when you step off the beach. Plus, it comes in various colors–but who doesn’t love rose gold?

12. Aviator Gradient-Blue Sunglasses $168 @ Ray Ban

I have two pairs of these glasses and I love them. Along with my Costa Del Mar’s, these are great protection from the sun and can be worn almost anywhere. I use these on non-fishing days, when we are just grilling and hanging out on the beach.

13. Xhilaration Women’s Lace Applique Mesh Triangle Bikini Top $17.99 @ Target

This top is more flowy and has razor back straps. I love this top because it can mixed with any color bottom. It is made of fast drying material that is perfect for just slipping on a tank top and heading the lunch directly from the boat.
