Most brides have probably spent hours upon hours just researching ideas for their wedding. With tons of sites like Pinterest, The Knot, and Wedding Wire there are lots of ways to look up ideas once you are engaged.
Of course many people’s first instinct is to browse Pinterest, however at first it was overwhelming with millions of idea to scroll through, I would suggest creating a theme and color scheme before browsing any sites to relieve more added stress to your already stressful planning process.
What is a theme?
A theme is a stylistic choice that applies to all aspects of your wedding day. Including things like invitations, linens, florals, food, venue, and attire.
Keep your theme grounded in who you are as a couple. Make it your personal style.
We came up with our color scheme and theme by sitting down together a talking about what kind of wedding we wanted and how we wanted to accomplish it. J’s first thought was outdoors and my initial thought was small/intimate. We came up with an outdoor garden theme. Once we had this, THEN and only then did I go on Pinterest to find more inspiration. I was able to knock out a ton of details because I could specifically type in “intimate garden wedding” into the browser without being overwhelmed with wedding ideas for beachy tropical, rustic mountain top, or backyard bar-b-que events.
It made searching the internet less stressful and more enjoyable. We were able to find some great ideas that we are incorporating into our wedding. Here is our vision board!
